Forest and Twilight Vibes?
I had the pleasure of reading an early copy of Kimberly Dunham’s novel Betwixt and endorsing it! Now I can share my review and encourage you to pick this upcoming novel up immediately!
Betwixt welcomes readers into an intriguing, unique world. We’re introduced to Wren, an introverted teen grieving the loss of her mother while simultaneously wrestling with the many secrets she kept. When she moves to Alaska to live with her new guardians, she discovers magic abounds in the forests that surround her.
What I Liked about Betwixt
- Writing style: Dunham breathes life into nature and the forests of Alaska, writing with artful prose.
- Characters: The characters of Betwixt, from Wren to Alder, are multidimensional. They struggle, learn, and grow over the course of the story.
- Magic system: The fantasy world and magic of Betwixt are unique and original. The sentient forest is reminiscent of many great novels, but it stands on its own two feet. I enjoyed exploring the world Dunham created.
- Themes: Themes of belonging, truth, identity, and more make Betwixt a very relatable read for young adults.

If you like the vibes of Twilight and the atmosphere of Epic (2013), then Betwixt is a must-read for you. If you like:

Final Thoughts
Penned with honesty and clarity, Wren’s pursuit of truth, purpose, and a sense of home is something we can all relate to. Betwixt is a must-read for lovers of nature, fantasy, and forbidden love!
